Words Count: ‘Words have meaning, type has spirit’

James Bond has a license to kill. Rock stars have a license to be (or get away with being) outrageous. Graphic designers have a license to create eye-catching visuals that grab people’s attention. Maybe not a real “license,” but it’s their artistic responsibility to design company brand material that makes the product or service easily understandable, identifiable and memorable — that ultimately draws in the public. If not, they won’t be in business very long and neither will their clients.
